Sponsored by The Open Discourse Coalition, this special evening at The Trust welcomes back Makoto Fujimura, accompanied by his wife, Haejin Fujimura, for a conversation centered on their forthcoming book, “Beauty X Justice.”
We often imagine beauty and justice as opposites: one concerned with truth and fairness, the other with aesthetics and adornment. What if they aren’t rivals at all? What if beauty and justice belong together, moving in step to create lives, communities, and cultures marked by courage and abundance?
In this fireside-style conversation, the Fujimuras will explore how beauty and justice can work hand in hand, drawing from their shared life, creative practice, and public work. More than ideas alone, this evening offers a close look at how their vision takes shape in the real world, through art, advocacy, and cultural renewal.
The conversation will be guided by The Trust’s Founder & Curator, Tom Becker, beneath the Beaux Arts vaulted ceiling of The Trust Performing Arts Center in downtown Lancaster.
