“You’ve Got A Friend” Benefit Concert

July 20, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Lancaster Theatres come together for a unique “One Night Only” performance:
When vandals destroyed thousands of dollars worth of theatrical equipment belonging to the Gamut Theatre, word spread quickly through the theatre community. Amy Barth Meehan, artistic director of Premiere Danse Academy and a teaching artist at the Fulton Theatre, immediately had the idea of organizing a benefit cabaret. Now theatres from across the region are coming together for a special “One Night Only” performance to help raise money for the Gamut Theatre.

“I saw the news article about Gamut Theater in a post on Lancaster Theater Alliance Facebook page,” says Meehan. “I was annoyed and upset all in one. Someone made the comment that they wished somebody would be able to help Gamut Theater out. After midnight that night I contacted some theater friends and in a few short messages and lots of emails and phone calls You’ve Got A Friend cabaret became a reality for Gamut Theatre.”

The evening will feature performances from American Music Theatre, Bird-in-Hand Stage, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Fulton Theatre, Piercing Word, Servant Stage Company, Sight & Sound Theatres, and Theatre of the Seventh Sister.

The cabaret will be performed at The Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market Street, Lancaster on Monday, July 20th at 7:00pm. Admission is by donations to the Gamut Theatre.

Performances include Julie Morimoto of Sight & Sound Theatres singing a song from their upcoming 2016 premiere show, Samson, Kathryn Williams of the Fulton Theatre singing a song from their upcoming production of The Addams Family, the cast of Servant Stage Company singing a selection from their current production of Forever Plaid, as well as many more highlights from each of the other theatre companies.

Gamut Theatre is in need of funds to replace sound equipment that was recently destroyed due to vandalism that occurred between weekends of Free Shakespeare in the Park (FSIP), Reservoir Park, Harrisburg. The dressing room where the equipment was stored was broken into and thousands of dollars of equipment was destroyed. Gamut Theatre has been producing FSIP for 22 years.
