Victory: After the endgame, then what?

September 13, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Rowhouse

SEPTEMBER 13 at 7 PM

with Andy Walsh, PhD

Perhaps the Marvel Cinematic Universe is more than just a thrill ride.

Walsh merges science and faith in this reflection on failure and loss.

  • Do you fantasize about what an ultimate victory in the universe?

  • What could/should it look like?

  • Where does our longing for justice and purpose come from?

  • Why do we hope for hope even when we’re hopeless?

Walsh sees the victory of End Game evoking the “already and not yet” quality found in the biblical narrative. Come and find out why. Bring your thoughts, friends, and questions!

ANDY WALSH is Chief Science Officer at Health Monitoring, a public health software company. He has a PhD in microbiology from the Bloomberg School of Public Health and a lifelong passion for sci-fi and superheroes. He writes weekly on science and faith. His first book, Faith Across the Multiverse, explores the ways science fiction storytelling and the language of science can enrich conversations about faith and meaning. You can find his blog at Emerging Scholars Network.
