Kēnòr: an authentic, improvised modern chamber music ensemble of virtuoso violin, percussion, vocals, and accordion in an exciting alchemy of evocative world music and mischievous poetry.
Kēnòr violinist and poet, Christopher Brooks, extends this invitation:
“Come one and all to an evening of poetry
written in rhythm and rhyme
(for the most part).
The music we play comes direct from the heart.
We haven’t a clue what we’re going to do.
As you may know: that is our art.
“John Milosich, or Milo—as he’s known to his friends
will play the accordion, and sometime that night,
he will sing. His voice is a thing
of surpassing delight.
“Lj on percussion provides our heartbeat,
just as the music demands.
Whatever he does, it is always quite subtle,
shaped by his craftsman’s hands.
“I am Christopher Brooks. I’ll improvise tunes
on bow and violin, two hundred years old.
I’ve nicknamed her Juliet (that genius of love).
“I’m also the author of all of these poems,
including this welcome, penned specially for you.
“Come one, and come all,
the 24th of October,
the time 7:00pm, at dusk.
As the evening falls, like the year, the sky rust,
we’ll revel in rhythm and rhyme at the Trust.”
