The Row House: The Cathedral of Tomorrow

September 28, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Rowhouse

The Cathedral of Tomorrow: How Rex Humbard Mined the Minds of his Followers Decades Before Facebook featuring Rev. Stan Morton & Dr. John Modern.

Stan is a theologian and pastor; John is a religious studies professor. Both grew up in Akron, Ohio in turbulent times. The tire industry was tanking, and information technology was emerging. In stepped a charismatic televangelist who promised works of God in exchange for names, addresses, and prayer requests. Was Humbard the first entrepreneur to mine information to build his media kingdom? And how does the band DEVO and the theologian Jacques Ellul fit into this bizarre, uniquely American tale? Come to find out at one of the wildest Forums we’ve ever presented!

$10.00 in advance; $15.00 at door; Row House Members plus one guest are free: Join here.
